I was able to produce Irish Brogues due to the archeological research of A.T. Lucas with Harvard Expedition proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy. The bog in which the shoe was found was dated “as early as 200 AD” The earliest example is found in writing is found in a 5th century Irish text . Brouges are a turned shoe meaning they are stitched “inside out” and turned “right side out” All shoes are sewn with hand twisted and waxed thread with wild German boar hair as needles.
